Super beautiful day in Sarasota, couldn't help but venture outside. My friend Raquel and I explored downtown sarasota. Found many spots to return to with our easels and paint. Here is a snippet of Raquel. She loves her compositions centered. I'll upload more later :3

Played with different settings and explored composition today. It reminded me of how I do process work with illustration, thinking of general shapes and form along with points of view and perspective. Thank you Raquel for once again tolerating me taking many photos.
I never seen so many light switches in an apartment before. Some of them didn't serve a function.

My purpose of learning photography was to be able to document my own artwork. I epically failed. I tried taking photos of artists books I created and it just turned out horrible. I begged for my friend to help me, I took a better photo of her than the books themselves. I will photograph that bunny properly one day.

Sadly enough I did not take photos today, but I did manage to snag a few nifty books from the library on fashion photography and landscape. The first one is Light & Shoot 50 Fashion Photos by Chris Gatcum and the second is Mastering Landscape Photography by Alain Briot. Hopefully these will help :)

First full day back at school, my friends and I ventured downtown Sarasota in hopes to see the motorcycle rally. Sadly we were too late, so we continued on our plans of White Berry frozen yogurt and a good game of Jenga. I'm incredibly thankful to have great friends who tolerate the constant photo taking. My friend who let me borrow her D3100 early joined us today and showed me a few new things too, she's the one in the super cute bow. I must say, it was a pretty good day.
I'm obsessed with color... the greens and blues are really appealing to me.
Thank you Raquel for modeling for me :3
Look at the cute hermit crab
We ended our adventure at Sangria with scrumptious tapas and a nice complimentary appetizer from the chef. The restaurant was filled with tasteful decor and lighting.
I love her headband. I know she hates this photo...but I love it. Sorry Elaine <3
on a side note, the pattern of her headband is an example of what I'm focusing on for my senior project.
For the curious ones, here is a link to my art blog:
Here are some photos Christine took. Of course she would take better photos than me on my camera :P that would happen.
The rest are funny photos I found on my camera when I asked Elaine to hold it...
I threw this one in there to see if anyone would notice.
so this is what happens when I drive...

Let me begin by saying I'm not a photographer, I'm an Illustrator. I'm exploring photography for personal reasons of taking better reference photos and to gain an understanding for the creative process. With that said, I'm starting this blog to document my growth and development. For Christmas I received a camera I had my eye on for months, the D3100, from my super amazing dad. My roommate let me borrow her camera a few times and I grew fond of it's user friendly qualities. I'm intrigued by photography but I really don't understand it. I recently modeled for a friend and was inspired by his work. Check him out http://christopherhoniball.com/ His work is appealing to me through his use of natural lighting and the connection he establishes with his subjects. I hope to achieve this one day, but for now, I need to learn how to use a camera first.

First day of playing around, I realized I suck at this and need to read the manual. My friend who is also studying in art received a camera for Christmas, D3200. She showed me nifty settings she has been using, for example Vivid mode.
I quickly grew to hate flash.
